Carmeuse Americas Area Quality Manager in LANSING, Michigan

Job Summary:

The Area Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading Carmeuse regional interests in developing and executing a long term Quality Assurance Strategy with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and customer focus. Taking the lead in regards to driving the preventative action and resolution of non-conformance process. This position is instrumental in the communications between the Sites, Sales, Technical Services and the customers, and acts as the liaison to operations. The primary office of the selected candidate will depend largely on the candidate's current location and/or preference.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Responsible to oversee the Quality Assurance Programs for Carmeuse Lime and Stone’s facilities in the Great Lakes Region, consisting of facilities in: Greater Lansing Area, Jackson, Cedarville, Gulliver, Drummond Island, Gulliver and Rogers City. Other Sites maybe included depending on geographic locations.

  • Support change efforts in the regions in regards to Quality Assurance as being well connected to all of the operational and business processes, understanding of these processes and how they relate to customer requirements (internal/external).

  • Apply analytical thinking skills not only while providing solutions to problems or situations, but also in a means of providing insight into preventive actions to avoid occurrences of non-conformances.

  • Facilitate continuous improvement efforts to ensure process improvement and customer satisfaction.

  • Oversee quality data collection into SAP / Power BI and perform trend analysis on quality information.

  • Provide training, coaching, mentoring and guidance to quality personnel.

  • Act as an internal auditor for other quality regions quality audit program.

  • Oversee ISO Certification.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/University Degree in a technical discipline.

  • 7 to 10 years’ experience of progressive management experience in the quality, quality systems and continuous improvement in a related industry, especially in lime, cement, refractory, concrete, aggregates or chemicals.

  • Provide leadership to the Sites, Sales, Technical Services as well as the regional quality team.

  • Ability to manage systems, multiple tasks, processes and people while being able to set priorities appropriately.

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time (most travel can be done in day trips).
