Job Summary:

Assists with coordination of ready-mix plant operations, including truck dispatch, batch plant operation, quality control, customer service, and operation of mobile equipment. Acts as lead when supervisor is off-site.

Main Responsibilities

• Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams

• Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies

• Assist with coordination of daily plant operations while supporting safety, environmental, regulatory and production expectations

• Support the Simon safety culture and other Company strategic initiatives

• Observe safety procedures, report potentially unsafe conditions, and use equipment and materials properly

• Operate heavy equipment, including, but not limited to, loader, skid-steer, and other mobile equipment used in support of production operations

• Maintain adequate supply of aggregate materials in plant supply bins

• Operate other tools and equipment as required for assigned tasks

• Coordinate and monitor scheduled deliveries

• Maintain radio contact with drivers to expedite deliveries

• Communicate professionally with drivers, suppliers, customers, company representatives, and others

• Batch concrete loads, ensuring consistency of mix is maintained according to specifications

• Climb ladders on trucks and plant equipment to as required to inspect material loads and/or plant equipment

• Assist with inventory maintenance, and assist with placing raw materials orders as required to meet demand

• Perform minor equipment maintenance tasks

• Perform manual labor and site housekeeping tasks as needed

• Perform basic quality control tasks (measuring and sampling) to ensure product meets mix design requirements

• Drive company vehicles to worksites and company locations when authorized

• Perform other duties as assigned related to plant operation

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

• Valid drivers’ license and ability to maintain a clean motor vehicle record required

• CDL a PLUS

Skills:

• Experience working in an aggregate production or similar environment; ready-mix experience preferred

• Experience operating heavy industrial equipment preferred; experience operating commercial vehicles a plus

• Ability to communicate effectively and interact professionally

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment under pressure of deadlines

• Basic computer skills using MS Office and similar programs

• Experience using production plant, dispatching, or similar programs preferred

• Basic mechanical ability/proficiency preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety policies

• Required to work indoors and outdoors in an industrial plant environment from both seated and standing positions

• Required to safety operate various vehicles and equipment related to requirements of the role

• Regularly required to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, exchange information (This position frequently communicates with others regarding safety issues/training or must be able to discern equipment location for safety)

• Regularly required to detect, determine, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, observe, inspect, estimate, assess (must be able to detect moving equipment or must be able to safely inspect work at heights above 10 feet)

• Regular work in areas with moving mechanical parts and heavy machinery

• Regularly required to climb ladders and perform work from heights

• Exposure to all outdoor weather conditions and loud noises; exposure to chemicals, dust and airborne particles

• Regularly required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms, talk and hear; use hands to handle, feel, or manipulate objects; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Benefits and Perks:

Compensation*: $20.00-$26.00 DOE

*Estimated target starting compensation: actual compensation to be determined based on assessment of an individual's qualifications, education, and experience relevant to the role.
